Bar Chart error message seems incorrect.

Unless I'm missing something, when I tried to change a line graph into a bar chart, I got an error message to the effect that "the values of the ordinate must be monotonically increasing."

Shouldn't this message have read "the values of the abscissa must be monotonically increasing," as the ...

Problems with date number format

In using the "Edit>YYYYMMDDHHMM to Serial..." command, it correctly displays dates after 1900, but anything pre-1900 (e.g., 1850,1860,1870,1880,1890 in the form of 185001010000, etc.) is displayed as ########## in the graph. If I use the "Edit>Edit Data..." menu command, all the dates display ...

I'll check out the Excel documentation (I'm assuming I'll find the formula there). And on centered moving averages, they do require an odd number of points.

Really appreciate the help. The climate community gets a little "paranoid" about what's going on behind the curtain when one is trying to draw ...

What algorithm is used for the "Moving Average"

I need to know what mathematical algorithm is used for the moving average calculations.

Normally, a moving average will require that the "end regions" of the graph not be included in the graph of the moving average, since, for example, a centered 11-day moving average can't provide data for the ...

"we wouldn't want a thumbnail-provider to have to process those large files just to display a small picture in Explorer"
I was thinking more along the lines of simply being able to access the next .grf file from within DPlot using a forward (e.g.) and back arrow icon (or equivalent)--no ...

Perhaps I worded that badly. The .grf extension wasn't broken--if DPlot wasn't running and I double clicked on a .grf file, DPlot would immediately open, but display the hint box first. After closing the hint box, DPlot would not display the .grf file just double-clicked upon. It happened several ...

Follow up

Evidently, now that I've just complained, DPlot seems to be cooperating. Didn't even change the programs open on my screen. Just went back to windows explorer and clicked on some additional .grf files and the hints are no longer appearing. Seems reporting the bug cured it. Obviously (I hope--I'm ...

Opening associated file types (.grf) won't display graph

I have had trouble recently when opening a file with an extension associated with DPlot (specifically, the .grf extension) if I do so by double clicking the file without DPlot already being open. I'm using DPlot 2.2.6.9.

All files open without problem if DPlot is already open and I use the standard ...

In the meantime you can correct the problem you're having with Notepad. Open dplot.ini, delete "readsheets &" so that [Version] is on a separate line, and save.
Already done. Thanks David for the quick response.

As for my OS version: Windows XP Pro SP3 (not sure if you need more than that).

Dplot is creating the file, but it appears that the [Version] section is being written incorrectly so that DPlot can't recognize it. Here's the DPlot.ini relevant section:

Can't get rid of "Do you want to view the example graph

Tried looking for this as a previous issue, but couldn't find it, so here goes:

I installed DPlot as admin, but when I log in under a separate account, the message box with "Do you want to view the example graphs..." displays itself every time DPlot is launched whether I view them or just reply "no ...
