The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b)

If when starting DPlot (or any other software) you get the following error message:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b). Click on
OK to terminate the application."
and you're running a Dell system with Symantec Endpoint Protection installed, please see this page:

The problem of course isn't limited to DPlot (and has nothing to do with DPlot), but may show up there and has been reported by 1 user.
