Just plugged this in today (5 Aug 2010): there's a new Search feature accessible from every page on the site (other than within these forums and the blog, which have their own search capabilities). To see it, click Search at the bottom of any page, or go here: http://www.dplot.com/search.php
I've played around with this a while and there are a few cosmetic things I'd like to change, but other than that it seems to work well - to me. Of course if you run in to any difficulties or weird behavior, I'd very much like to hear about it, either here or privately at support@dplot.com.
Thanks for your time.

I've run into a few search terms that result in a not-very-helpful memory allocation error. Today (Aug 12) I've rebuilt the search database to search fewer files and it all seems to work. I've yet to figure out if "searching fewer files" means a) only X files are included in the database or 2) only X files will be searched, where X is currently 1000. If the former this is a problem (e.g. how does the search-building-gizmo prioritize files); if the latter I can't imagine anybody being upset about not finding 1001 hits. Please bear with me as I try to figure this stuff out. If you do run into any problems, please let me know.
