Curve labels

David,

Any chance of adding an option to use the curve label instead of the file name as the curve legend when there is a single curve in a file, or when only one curve is selected to import or append?

And make sure there is a check in case the option is selected and there is no curve label in the file (all data)!

Would save me a lot of renaming curves after importing or appending data.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I follow this, unless you're talking about using a file column heading in the legend instead of for the Y axis label when there is only one Y column in the file?

If that's not it, I need more information on exactly what you want to do.

Okay, I was a little sloppy with my terms.

From the manual, "Column headings are used as the legend for multiple curves, or the X and Y axis labels for a single curve."

In addition, the way it works now, the file name is used as the curve legend when the file contains only a single curve, but also when only one of several curves is picked to plot.

I would like an option in the "Specify columns to plot" dialog, for the user to pick that either the file name is to be used as the curve legend OR that the column heading should be used for the curve legend.

I suppose you'll have to watch out that a column heading exists if the user picks that option.

I also suppose that where you currently use the column heading for the Y axis label when a file contains a single curve, that the option to use the column heading as the curve legend would turn off the Y-axis label, assuming it's the first curve in a plot.

I just want to be lazy, because I don't want to have to rename curve legends when I bring in single curves.

Hope this is more clear.

Thanks.
