Hey David...

I have a graph that i added some Notes to. These Notes are a diamond symbol. I put them on the graphed line in several points...when i print the graph all the diamond symbols are not exactly on the line...when i try to zoom in.....it zooms in on everything except the Notes.....??

Thanx,
Irving

Irving,
The physical position of notes added with Text>Add/Edit note is tied to the box around the plot, not to data space. That might explain why the position is different when printed out: if the printed plot does not have the same extents then the note position relative to your data points will be different. Same thing applies when zooming in/out - the note position is relative to the plot, not to your data values.

I can add a switch to position notes relative to your data values and (probably) not cause anything to break. I'll need to think on this one a bit. One thing that comes to mind right away is that you wouldn't be able to place notes outside the extents of the plot, but in your case it sounds like you're not interested in doing that anyway.

Hello David, hope everything is well...

I do have notes that are placed outside the box. Example, under the graph box i have a note to identifies the sources the date was taken from.

So, I would need to be able to place notes in and outside the graph box.

What I meant to say is that you'll be able to do one or the other for a specific note: tie note position to data space or place the note outside the extents of the plot. But not both for the same note.

David,

Did you ever add an option to tie a note to a dataset or data point? I would like to have that capability, so that the note stayed at the point or area where it applied. When I zoom or pan a plot now, the notes are anchored to the plot window, and the data set scrolls underneath them.

I looked for an option to set, but didn't see one.

Thanks, Jon

Aarrgghhh. No, it's not in there. I dropped the ball on this one. I'll definitely add it in the next release. Thank you for the reminder.

Licensed users can select Help>Check for Updates to get version 2.0.2.1.

Changes:

Note placement may now be tied to data space, rather than a fixed location relative to the plot. The location of the note can now be tied to the left, center, or right of the note horizontally, or the top, middle, or bottom of the note vertically. Added TextNoteEx macro/DDE command to handle these new capabilities.

You can press the Escape key to cancel a plot pan (normally done by dragging the mouse).

Bug fix: On a zoomed plot if you clicked on a note or the legend, then the pan arrow appeared once you moved the mouse, even though the plot would not be panned.
