general function for fitting?
I am a brand-new user (today) and am very pleasantly surprised by the ease of use, power and low cost of this software. I have been using ProFit on a Mac, and have had to convert to Windows at my new place of work. I was dreading the thought of buying the software which shall not be named, so I was intrigued when your program popped up on a search. The seamlessness with Excel is, well, excellent. I was thinking about suggesting a general function capability for fitting (as in ProFit), but this can probably be done easily enough just with Excel.

Thanks for your comments. I've fooled around in the past with a generic "enter whatever equation form you want" with the "More Curve Fits" plugin. It works out reasonably well if you are able to supply initial values for the coefficients that are not too far off of the final solution. Otherwise it tends to blow up with overflow errors. (It blows up gracefully, but it still blows up.) I need to take another look at this sometime soon, thanks for the reminder.
