Export DXF format

Good evening and greetings from Ottawa!

I have a rather strange workaround that perhaps Dplot can help with. I need to convert a photo(jpg) to a format I can use on a CNC router.

I can convert the photo to CSV, massage it with a macro (in Excel of all things) and reproduce the photo precisely as a ...

Differing Z values between crosshair 'hover' and status bar

Good evening. I have an XYZ surface plot based on imported data from an excel spreadsheet. There is no scaling (at least none that I have asked for) applied to any of the data.

When I activate the crosshair cursor with the 'hover over' display option, I notice that the values for X and Y match what ...

Polar Histogram?

Good afternoon. This didn't come up on my forum search, so I thought I would ask.

I have a wind distribution model to present, and it would be very handy to be able to use a polar presentation (compass rose) and wind speed to show the frequency of different wind velocities.

Is there an easy way ...

Thanks David. That's what I was resigned to do, I just thought it would be a lot prettier on the polar plot.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Cheers

3D Polar Plot?

Good morning. I'm not sure if this has been asked and answered already.

I'd welcome any thoughts on how to plot this. I need to plot a celestial body trajectory with azimuth and altitude above the horizon, both in degrees, over time. I would picture the plot as hemispherical with azimuth on the ...

No worries David. The files tend to be huge anyway so it may not be practical.

Thanks for getting back to me on it...

Thanks David. I found the problem. Something must have hung up during my install of the new version, I checked today and the version number had not updated. I re-attempted the install successfully and it works!

Sorry for the inconvenience....

Croping issues, part deux

Hi David. The good news is that cropping now captures the correct area, even when the scale is reversed.

The 'other' news is that the cropped output looks like it has been reflected in the x axis (as though the y scale was no longer negative), and the Z and Y values have shifted.

For example, if ...

Imported Digital elevation map (dem) data

Good morning.

David, thanks for your rapid support followup last week. That helps!

I'm on to the next item, importing digital elevation (DEM) files. This may already be possible, or covered elsewhere, but just in case, these are public domain digital terrain elevation files. Here is a site where ...

Palette suggestions for importing photos as bmp

Good evening. This thread is related to an earlier one on multiple plots and layering. I've gotten past the merged graph issue, now would like to overlay the merged, data plot on a photo image.

I can import the image as a BMP, however I'm unable to come up with a palette that even closely matches ...

dragging and dropping plots

I have plots of several data series (x y z surface) that overlap, however the overlap points are variable and based on the z value, such that I have to see the plots to determine the overlap point.

I can do this today, sort of, by cropping and applying a transformation to the axis, but it's ...

Unfortunately not. Simply swapping x and y via Edit in Dplot results in a further rotation CCW, such that the plot is 180 deg out of phase in my case. If I swap the columns manually in excel, I get a better result, but now I no longer have a correct reference from the source to the plot.

Put ...

Rotating 2D depictions of XYZ surface plots

Good afternoon. Firstly, thanks you for your suggestion on palette saving. Works perfectly. Now on to my next hurdle.

I am importing data where X is 0 to 120, Y 0 to 160, 19.2K points. If I maintain the correct XY designations, the plot will come up rotated 90 CCW from what the source data gave me ...

Creating selectable palettes with custom colours

Good morning. This is my first post here, so thanks for your patience if I'm covering old ground.

I'm currently using Dplot with imported excel data for an XYZ contour (shaded band) map across a 10,000 datapoint set. This is basically a reconstruction of a sensor image and I'm able to reproduce the ...
