how do I scatter with data points connected by smothed lines??

The easiest way to do this is to make a copy of your curve (Edit>Copy>Data Values, Edit>Paste). Then use Edit>Equal Intervals on the copied curve with an interval small enough to give 1000 or more points and the Cubic Spline interpolator. Finally, use View>Reorder curves to move your new smooth curve above your original data in the list, so that your symbols are drawn after the smooth curve.
