waterfall plot

Post by Tim@creighton »

Hello there

I am completely new to DPLOT, and I'd like to generate a waterfall plot.

Here's what I have
http://www.flickr.com/photos/29246452@N ... 6/sizes/o/

across the top are time values in the format (hh:mm:ss)

the bold values at far right are various heights (I'd prefer these be the Y axis.

all intermediate values are a measure (a volume of a cloud) at that height and time.

in short, what I want is something like this

how do I go about getting this?
thanks for your time and help!

If you move your column AH over to the left side of that table then you can use the ZGrid Add-In command. That will initially produce a 2D plot with contour lines. You'll now have to generate a rectangular grid. (Neither your times nor heights are evenly-spaced, and that's a requirement for a waterfall plot in DPlot.) Select Options>Generate Mesh. You'll probably want to use the Linear interpolator. Finally, select Options>Contour Options, check the "View in 3D" box, then "Waterfall plot".
