3D Surface plot questions

Post by omoeko »

Hi,

I have the following questions on 3D surface plot pls.

1) How can one generate a 3D surface plot using (or similar to ) the ZGrid add-in command by copying data and pasting directly into DPlot without going through Excel add-in.
2) How can I Invert the X & Y axis in 3D surface plot.
3) How can I change the color ranges used in the countour intervals.

Thanks a lot for your great support. :D

1) You can't. You can save your data to a text file, minus the X/Y header row and column, then use the Z Table plugin. You'll be prompted for the X and Y corner values.

2) On the Contour Options dialog enter -1 for the X and Y scale factors. If instead you mean that you want to swap the X and Y values, select Edit>Swap X,Y.

3) You can use whatever colors you want by selecting Options>Contour Options, then selecting "Custom" under "Colors" and clicking the adjacent ">>" button.

Thanks a lot for your prompt response.

I tried to make a new 3D surface plot using data in Excel with ZGrid Add-in command and I got the following error

DdeConnect Failed for topic = XYPlot, Error code = 0X400A

I clicked OK and got the following error

In DPlot_Command, DdConnect for topic = XYPlot, error code = 0X400A Command String = [SetWindowPos(0,0,0,0,0,0,30]

Could you pls help decode what is going on pls?

Thanks a lot.

400A is "no DDE conversation established", which could mean that 1) DPlot isn't installed (which I trust isn't the case), or 2) for whatever reason, DPlot failed to launch. When you try the ZGrid command, does it start DPlot? Either way, what happens if you manually start DPlot and then try the ZGrid Add-in command?

Thanks a lot for your response. It worked when I manually started DPlot before using the ZGrid command.

Thanks a lot. 8)

You're welcome, but your initial problem shouldn't happen. On a slow system there are enough checks in there to ensure that DPlot is ready before the Add-in tries to establish a connection... unless I missed something. What version of Windows are you running?

PS: If you're running any sort of active virus protection gizmo (McAfee, Norton, AVG, etc.) what is it?

I am running Windows Vista and Kaspersky Internet Security anti-virus software.

Keep up the good work. Cheers
