DPlot in Web App?

Post by rschaeferhig »

I have a customer who has asked us to estimate building a new system for them. The system has to be web-based and their web site is hosted by a fairly small-time ISP. The environment is ASP.NET only. They want to do some fairly complex statistical graphing. Looking at the graphs I indicated "those are fairly tough to do" to which their response was "Oh, just get a copy of DPlot.". Given what I've seen on your site I suspect DPlot is intended as a PC-based client tool, not a server-based web graphing component. Am I correct?

Yes, you are correct. If you were running an NT server then... keeping in mind that I'm clueless about this sort of thing so take this for what it's worth... you might be able to drive DPlot on your server and have it produce a BMP, JPG, etc. that your application then displayed on a web page. But my guess is you'd be better off finding a graphing product that is intended for this sort of thing.
